Canberra Centenarian travels on Light Rail

Canberra Centenarian Margie Taylor recently enjoyed a trip on the Light Rail to celebrate her upcoming 100th birthday.

Mrs Taylor spoke with CMET Customer Service Officers during her journey, commenting on the smoothness of the LRVs and of how far Canberra has progressed as a city.

Margie started working at Parliament house during the 2nd World War in the mail room and worked there all her life. During her Light Rail journey she reminisced of the old Canberra; no public transport existed when she first came to Canberra, meaning that she had to walk everywhere. What a change to today’s integrated public transport network!

Mrs Taylor traveled with her daughter, who was very impressed by the ease of being to travel with a wheelchair.
