It may take a day or two for your lost item to be found and received by the Lost Property Office. CMET receives a number of lost items each week. Not all items lost on Light Rail services are recovered or handed in. If your lost item is in our possession, it may take some time for us to locate.

The team at CMET will respond to your query to inform you if your lost item has been located or not.

You can pick up your item from Mitchell Light Rail Depot. You will be emailed directions on how to find the Lost Property Office, once your item is found.

The office is open:

Monday to Friday – 9:30am to 4:30pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays – CLOSED

When collecting your lost item, you will be required to provide photographic identification. When claiming a lost item, you must be the owner of the item. You may be required to provide evidence that you are the owner of the item, such as proof of purchase or a description of the item. Where evidence cannot be provided, Canberra Metro Operations retains full discretion on whether to release the item or not.

Canberra Metro Operations generally retains lost property for three months.

Exceptions are hazardous, unhygienic and perishable items, such as groceries, which are unable to be stored. These will be disposed of on the same day or as deemed appropriate by Canberra Metro Operations.

All unclaimed or uncollected items will be disposed of securely. Depending on the nature of the item, unclaimed or uncollected items may be donated to charitable organisations.

If you find an item on board an LRV or at a stop, please give it to a Canberra Metro Operations employee or hand it in at the nearest police station.

To help us reunite the found item with its owner, provide the Canberra Metro employee or the police with as much information as possible, including: the nearest stop, time the item was found, the destination the LRV was heading to, and the location.

  • Complete our online Lost Property Form: Our staff will search for your item and get back to you when it is located.
  • Operating Hours:  Monday to Friday – 9:30am to 4:30pm. (Not open weekends or public holidays)
  • Phone Contact: 6147 6827
  • Collecting from the Lost Property Office. Once your item has been located you will be contacted by the Lost Property Office. Note: Lost Property will only call you back if the item has been handed in.
