School depot tours are back at CMET

On Tuesday we had a visit from two groups of kindergarten children from Palmerston Primary school. They were able to experience two modes of public transport arriving at the depot by bus before disembarking and being greeted by all the wonderful staff that offered their time to come and help. The purpose of this excursion was to show them the correct way to travel on the light rail and to learn about the safety features onboard including the emergency help point (EHP). We then explained what the children should do if they ever feel unsafe or if they get separated from their parents.

The children then had the opportunity to ask any questions they had regarding the light rail and alignment before getting to experience what they were all looking forward to, getting to go through the tram wash and sitting in the driver’s cab! This was the highlight for all of them and we hope that they all took away the knowledge of how to be safe on and around the light rail along with their stickers and model trams.
