When:

Between 7:30 pm and last service every night on Sunday 23 March to Thursday 27 March 2025.

Where:

Between Alinga Street and Sandford Street light rail stops.

Important maintenance will occur on the light rail network between Alinga Street and Sandford Street stops during the evening over a 5-night period from Sunday 23 to Thursday 27 March 2025. The works involve routine repair and improvements along the light rail corridor between Alinga Street and Sandford Street stops between 7:30 pm and 5:30 am every night, weather permitting.

Rail replacement bus services:

During the maintenance period, buses will operate as rail replacement services between Alinga Street and Sandford Street stops in Mitchell.

There will be an additional opportunity to transfer at the Well Station Drive stop. Customers are encouraged to transfer at this stop due to the quick access to the rail replacement bus stop. Customers headed to the city will still be able to transfer at Sandford Street if they do not transfer at Well Station Drive.

The rail replacement bus stop for Alinga Street will be located City Interchange Platform 3. Most rail replacement bus stops will be located next to regular light rail stops along Flemington Road, the Federal Highway and Northbourne Avenue.

The last direct light rail service each night will depart at 7:15 pm from Gungahlin Place and 7:45 pm from Alinga Street. Usual services will resume the following morning by first services. Light rail stops north of Mitchell and services between Sandford Street and Gungahlin Place will run as normal.

Customers are not required to tap on and off on replacement buses, however, customers will still need to tap on and off at light rail stops as usual.

Customers are encouraged to allow extra time to travel during this period.

Park and Ride

Bikes on rail replacement bus services

All rail replacement buses will be equipped with 2 bike racks.

Accessibility

Rail replacement bus services will be operated by Transport Canberra and will be wheelchair accessible.

Tree pruning

Additional tree pruning out-of-hours works in the light rail corridor will be undertaken during the same period from Monday 24 March to Thursday 27 March 2025. This is to restore critical safety clearances between tree branches and the overhead wire along Northbourne Avenue between Phillip Avenue and Alinga Street stops. The tree pruning will have no impacts to road traffic or pedestrians, however there will be times when the works may be noisy.

Lost property

Items found/lost on board rail replacement bus services will be processed in the same way as when items are left on light rail services. To report lost property please visit CMET and follow links to submit a lost property notification.
