A lot has happened since 2019 – for the light rail and beyond – but one thing has remained constant for Sigma: her passion for safety.
Sigma joined CMET more than seven years ago and has built a career defined by collaboration, continuous improvement and a genuine commitment to learning. While she has explored a few roles throughout her time with the organisation, she always found herself drawn back to safety assurance.
A key part of her role involves partnering with stakeholders to achieve safety accreditation assurance deliverables. Whether working with internal teams or external partners, Sigma values the shared knowledge that emerges through collaboration.
“It’s a dynamic and challenging environment,” Sigma says. “That’s what keeps me motivated.” For Sigma, safety assurance is about much more than processes and compliance.
“We learn from each other,” she says. “That’s one of the things I love most about the role.”
As work continues on Stage 2A, collaboration remains at the centre of everything she does. Bringing together diverse stakeholders and working toward a common goal requires patience, understanding and a willingness to find middle ground.
“It’s all about working together with our key stakeholders and finding solutions that work for everyone,” Sigma explains.
Outside of work, Sigma’s love of new experiences extends beyond the workplace. Being brought up in Botswana and travelling since she was young, Sigma is a passionate traveller and self-confessed foodie, who enjoys exploring new destinations and discovering cuisines from different cultures.

For Sigma, travel is an opportunity to broaden perspectives, gain new insights and develop a deeper understanding of the world.
These days, however, her next adventure may be on hold. With a lively one-and-a-half-year-old at home, international travel plans are taking a temporary back seat to family life, a journey that comes with its own excitement and discoveries.
After seven years with CMET, Sigma’s passion continues to make a meaningful impact for Canberra’s very own light rail.
