Meet Donna: Duty Manager in CMET’s Operations Control Centre

Ever wondered who’s behind the running of the light rail network, keeping everything running safely and on time? Meet Donna, one of CMET’s duty managers who manage all aspects of track operations from the Operations Control Centre (OCC).

Donna has worked for CMET for almost 2 years and was CMET’s first female duty manager. She joined the project during testing and commissioning and was part of the team that ran the network on launch day, 20 April 2019. She joined the team to be part of a project that makes a difference to the Canberra Community, making our wonderful city even more accessible.

Throughout the COVID-19 emergency Donna has seen passenger numbers decrease dramatically but is proud to deliver full services for members of the community to be able to access work, school, supermarkets and other necessities. As part of the Operations Control team, Donna monitors the light rail network ensuring passenger safety; with health, safety & wellbeing a priority for the team.   To keep the light rail running during COVID-19, the OCC has been turned into a ‘clean space’ – restricting access to minimise the risk of contagion.

In her free time Donna loves to explore all the Canberra has to offer on her motorcycle. She loves it so much, in fact, that Donna co-founded a motorcycle group called Female Riders of Canberra, who broke a world record in Dubbo for the most women riding at one time, totaling at 1002.
