Meet Andrew, CMET’s Engineering & Maintenance Manager

If you’ve ever traveled on Canberra’s light rail, you might appreciate the work of Canberra Metro Operation’s (CMET’s) Engineering and Maintenance Manager, Andrew and his team. They work daily to ensure that  all components of the rail track system operate safety.

Andrew first started work with CMET in December 2018, about five months before the light rail first started running for the public. He decided to apply to work at CMET so he could be part of a “great and dynamic organisation as it grows and develops”. Before that, he had worked on construction of the light rail since 2016.

Andrew’s favourite part of his job is the challenge of developing the ACT’s first rail operation. He is proud of developing Canberra’s rail capability and supply chain with a focus on “using and developing local capability wherever possible”.

In his down time, Andrew enjoys spending time outside with his family and when he’s not with them, he enjoys long distance running, including the occasional marathon.

Lately, Andrew and CMET have been responding to COVID 19 with the implementation of new control measures to limit the spread of infection, as well as planning for contingency measures if required. Andrew is very committed to continuing to provide Canberra’s light rail services, a “key service for any growing and vibrant city”, of which Canberra is no exception.
