Celebrating NAIDOC Week: CMET Unveils Themed LRV and Special Announcements

This week, CMET is proudly celebrating NAIDOC Week with a tribute to the culture and heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In the spirit of this year’s theme, “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud,” one of our light rail vehicles is displaying the artwork from this year’s winner of the 2024 NAIDOC Week Poster Competition. The design is titled Urapun Muy by acclaimed artist Deb Belyea.

With support from members at Yerrabi Yurwang Child & Family Aboriginal Corporation, we have also recorded two public announcements, which will be played at light rail stops throughout NAIDOC Week. Megan and Mitch, proud descendants of the Ngunnawal and Wiradjuri people, graciously lent their voices to help record these messages.
