CMET is proud to announce our official participation in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Initiative.
The Sunflower is a globally recognised symbol that allows people with non-visible disabilities to discreetly signal that they may need a little extra support, patience, or understanding in their daily lives. By joining this initiative, CMET is reaffirming our commitment to ensure that both our workplace and the light rail network is safe, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone.
All CMET frontline staff have been trained to recognise the Sunflower symbol, which may be worn on a lanyard, wristband, or badge, and are ready to provide assistance and understanding whenever it is needed. This ensures that our customers who may live with non-visible disabilities such as autism, chronic pain, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities feel supported when travelling on the light rail.
Our launch of the Sunflower Initiative aligns with Invisible Disabilities Week 19–25 October, a global campaign to raise awareness of the millions of people who live with conditions that are not immediately obvious to others.
By embracing the Sunflower, CMET is helping to make the invisible visible by ensuring that our organisation enables everyone to feel seen, respected, and supported.
