Keeping Canberra Moving on Christmas Day: Meet Subodh and Atisha

While most of Canberra spends Christmas Day unwrapping presents, enjoying lunch with family or catching up with friends, a dedicated team at CMET is still hard at work keeping the city moving. Among them are Subodh and Atisha, a married couple who will be spending the day working together on the light rail network.

Both are proud members of the CMET team and say working side by side on Christmas is something they genuinely enjoy. Instead of rushing between family events or trying to coordinate different schedules, they get to share the day in a unique way. They support each other while helping passengers reach their festive destinations safely.

“We know people still need to travel on Christmas, whether it is to see family, visit loved ones or get to work,” they said. “Being able to do that together makes the day feel special.”

Their positive attitude reflects the commitment of all CMET staff who work through public holidays to ensure Canberra’s light rail continues to provide reliable and accessible services. We’re proud of our drivers, customer service officers, operations and maintenance teams and the many other people working behind the scenes to deliver a smooth journey for customers. If you are travelling on Christmas Day, keep an eye out and give our amazing team a wave or holiday greeting!
