CMET International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day, and the 2026 theme Balance the Scales speaks directly to the kind of workplace and community we are committed to building at CMET.

At CMET, women make up 23% of our workforce, with 37.5% representation at Senior Leadership Team level. While there is always more work to do, these numbers reflect meaningful progress and a clear direction for CMET.

Across our network, women are driving light rail vehicles, working in our Operations Control Centre, maintaining and servicing vehicles at the depot, delivering customer service on platforms and onboard, and leading key areas of the business. Many are working in roles that have not historically seen strong female representation, helping reshape what a career in light rail looks like.

For CMET, balancing the scales is not just about statistics. It is about creating a workplace where opportunity is based on capability, where leadership pathways are open, and where everyone feels respected and supported. This International Women’s Day, we proudly celebrate the women across CMET and CAF who keep Canberra moving and continue to help build a safer, fairer and more inclusive light rail network.
